I just wrote this song this week.

Citizen

There's not too much I'm doing right
Because everything is going wrong
I've completely lost my appetite
I haven't slept in so long
The television brings me joy
The bottle brings forgiveness
The numbness is unbearable
This heart my only witness

I'm doing the best that I can
I'm only a resident of youth
I'm merely a victim of memory
I'm sometimes a prisoner of truth

I can't seem to stop this swimming
But sentiment isn't the answer
I'm doing the best that I can
I'm not yet a citizen

There's not too much I'm doing right
I sit here watching movies
There's something on day and night
It always wants to soothe me
I wrestle with this everyday
My friends don't tell me the truth
I wish they would be straight with me
I wish that he would pull me through

I'm doing the best that I can
I'm only a resident of youth
I'm merely a victim of memory
I'm sometimes a prisoner of truth

I can't seem to stop this swimming
But sentiment isn't the answer
I'm doing the best that I can
I'm not yet a citizen
